The CISM Military World Games is a large-scale comprehensive sports meeting of the highest standard for military personnel worldwide hosted by the Council of International Military Sports (CISM). It is held every four years, with a duration of 7 to 10 days. There are 27 events in the competition. It is second only to the Olympic Games in scale. It is an important platform for armies of various countries to show their strength and image, enhance friendly exchanges, and expand international influence in peacetime. It is known as the "Olympic Games for Military Personnel"
On October 18, 2019, the 7th CISM Military World Games was successfully opened in Wuhan. A total of 9,308 military personnel from 109 countries registered for the Military World Games, making it the largest scale in history. As the host country, China has organized the largest sports delegation in the history of the Military World Games, with 553 members, including 406 athletes, heroic groups, and famous athletes in the sports circle who will compete together.
This Military World Games has set up 27 major events and 329 minor events, making it the most extensive in terms of competition events in history. In addition to regular events such as track and field, swimming, basketball, volleyball, weightlifting, shooting, and fencing, there are also five military-flavored events, including Air Force Pentathlon, Military Pentathlon, Navy Pentathlon, Orienteering, and Parachuting.
